Biography
Roberto Forza is an Italian cinematographer. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1957 to Italian parents, he moved with his family to Turin in 1961. He trained as a mechanical engineer and later developed an interest in cinema through film clubs and courses in Turin. He began his career as a cameraman at RAI in Milan before working freelance in advertising, documentaries and short films.
Forza made his feature film debut as cinematographer in 1993 with Punto di fuga. He is known for his long collaboration with director Marco Tullio Giordana, beginning with One Hundred Steps (2000) and including The Best of Youth (2003), When You Are Born You Cannot Hide Anymore (2005), Wild Blood (2008), Piazza Fontana: The Italian Conspiracy (2012) and At War for Love (2016). He has also worked on films such as The Cyclone (1996), The Mafia Kills Only in Summer (2013) and Escort in Love (2011). Forza received David di Donatello nominations for best cinematography for One Hundred Steps and Piazza Fontana: The Italian Conspiracy.
