Biography
Rodney Barnes is an American screenwriter and producer. He was born on 19 September in Annapolis, Maryland, and attended Howard University in Washington, DC, before moving to Los Angeles in 1995 to pursue screenwriting.
Barnes began his television career as a writer and producer on My Wife and Kids (2001–2005). He went on to serve as co-executive producer and writer on Everybody Hates Chris (2005–2009), executive producer and head writer on The Boondocks (2005–2014), and writer or producer on series including Marvel's Runaways (2017), American Gods (2017), Wu-Tang: An American Saga (2019), Heels (2021) and Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty (2022). He has also written comic books and graphic novels such as Killadelphia and Blacula: Return of the King.
His work has earned a Peabody Award for an episode of The Boondocks, an American Film Institute Award for Everybody Hates Chris, and nominations from the Writers Guild of America, BET Comedy Awards and NAACP Image Awards.
