Biography
Roger Miller was an American singer, songwriter, musician and actor. He voiced Allan-a-Dale, the rooster narrator and minstrel, in the 1973 Disney animated film Robin Hood, and wrote and performed several of its songs, including "Oo-De-Lally" and "Not in Nottingham".
His other screen credits include a guest appearance on The Muppet Show (1976), a role as Sheriff in Murder, She Wrote (1984), and voice work as Speiltoe in Nestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey (1977) and Jolly Jumper in Lucky Luke (1991). He also wrote the music and lyrics for the Tony Award-winning 1985 Broadway musical Big River.
Miller was born on 2 January 1936 in Fort Worth, Texas, and died on 25 October 1992.
