Biography
Roland Monod (1929–2015) was a French actor, theatre director and scenographer. Born in Strasbourg, he is known for film roles including the Priest of Leiris in Robert Bresson’s A Man Escaped (1956), Antoine in Alain Resnais’s The War Is Over (1966) and the president of the tribunal in Two Men in Town (1973).
Monod directed the Théâtre Quotidien de Marseille from 1956 to 1966. He later served as president of the association Jean-Vilar, which runs the Maison Jean-Vilar in Avignon. A tribute evening was held in his honour in Paris in October 2015.
