Biography
Roland Winters (born Roland Winternitz) was an American actor. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on 22 November 1904 and died in Englewood, New Jersey, on 22 October 1989.
Winters is best remembered for portraying Charlie Chan in six Monogram Pictures films made between 1947 and 1949: The Chinese Ring, Docks of New Orleans, Shanghai Chest, The Golden Eye, The Feathered Serpent and Sky Dragon. He had earlier worked in radio and on the stage before entering films in the mid-1940s.
His other screen credits include the role of Dr. Ruric in Bigger Than Life (1956), Fred Gates in Blue Hawaii (1961) and appearances in television series such as Bewitched and Perry Mason. He also performed on Broadway.
