Biography
Rolando Boyce is an American actor. Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, he is the first member of his Panamanian family born in the United States. He graduated from Senn Metropolitan Academy High School and attended Texas Southern University before serving as an Army reservist during the Gulf War. After returning to Chicago in 1996, he began acting at the ETA Creative Arts Foundation and Black Ensemble Theater.
Boyce's stage work includes the role of William in Kenneth Lonergan's Lobby Hero at the Goodman Theatre. His early screen credits include Rufus in R. Kelly's Trapped in the Closet video series (2005–2007). He has appeared in numerous television series, including The Mentalist (2008), Chicago P.D. (2014) as Eddie Brackton, Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013), The Chi (2018–) as Darnell, and Dark Matter (2024) as Dr. Joseph Hart. Film roles include Lights Out (2016) and A Dog's Way Home (2019).
Boyce met actress LeShay Tomlinson on the set of Trapped in the Closet; they married in 2008 and live in Los Angeles.
