Biography
Rosaleen Philomena Linehan (née McMenamin) is an Irish stage, screen and television actress. Born in Dublin on 1 June 1937, she graduated from University College Dublin in 1957 with a BA in Economics and Politics. She joined UCD Dramsoc while at university and began acting professionally within two years of leaving.
Linehan started her career in comedy revues, many co-written with her husband Fergus Linehan. She later took on dramatic stage roles, including Kate in Brian Friel's Dancing at Lughnasa on Broadway, for which she received a Tony Award nomination in 1992. Film credits include Mrs. Canning in The Butcher Boy (1998), Peggy Owens in About Adam (2001) and Millie O'Dowd in The Matchmaker (1997). She has received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Irish Theatre Awards (2008) and the UCD Alumni Award for Arts (2014).
