Biography
Roy Barcroft (born Howard Harold Ravenscroft) was an American character actor. He appeared in bit parts from 1937 and became known for villain roles in B-Westerns from 1938 onwards.
In 1943 he signed a ten-year contract with Republic Pictures and appeared in more than 300 films for the studio through the 1950s. He played the marshal in the 1955 film Oklahoma! and worked extensively in television Westerns including Gunsmoke and The Andy Griffith Show.
