Biography
Rupert Crosse was an American actor. After studying acting under John Cassavetes, he made his film debut in Cassavetes' Shadows (1960), playing the character Rupert. He later appeared in Cassavetes' Too Late Blues (1961) and became a life member of the Actors Studio.
Crosse appeared in numerous television guest roles during the 1960s, including episodes of Bonanza, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour and The Man from U.N.C.L.E.. His performance as Ned McCaslin in The Reivers (1969) earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, making him the first African American nominee in that category. He died on 5 March 1973.
