Biography
Rusty Lane was an American actor whose career spanned film and television from the mid-1940s to the 1970s. Born James Russell Lane in Chicago, Illinois, he began as a college professor before turning to acting in his forties.
He appeared on Broadway in productions including Mister Roberts (1948) and The Desperate Hours (1955). His film roles included Bob LaPorte in Bigger Than Life (1956), Danny McKeogh in The Harder They Fall (1956) and Samuel Adams in Johnny Tremain (1957). He was frequently cast as judges, sheriffs and other authority figures in series such as The Twilight Zone, Batman, Perry Mason and Gunsmoke.
