Biography
Ruth Landshoff, also credited as Ruth Landshoff-Yorck and born Ruth Levy, was a German-American actress and writer. She was born on 7 January 1904 in Berlin and died on 19 January 1966 in New York City.
She appeared as Ruth in Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau's Nosferatu (1922) and had a role in Carl Theodor Dreyer's Die Gezeichneten the same year. After training at Max Reinhardt's acting school, she performed on stage in Berlin, Leipzig and Vienna before largely giving up acting. She later appeared in Die zwölfte Stunde (1930).
In 1930 she married David Graf Yorck von Wartenburg; the couple divorced in 1937. She emigrated from Germany in 1937, settling in the United States, where she worked as a writer, journalist and translator until her death.
