Biography
Ruth Rose (16 January 1896 – 8 June 1978) was an American screenwriter. She was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, the daughter of playwright Edward E. Rose, and worked as a writer and explorer before entering film.
She met director Ernest B. Schoedsack on a 1925 expedition to the Galapagos Islands; they married in 1926 and collaborated on several productions. Rose is best known for her screenplay for King Kong (1933), on which she reworked an earlier draft to improve pacing and dialogue. Her other credits include Son of Kong (1933), She (1935), The Last Days of Pompeii (1935) and Mighty Joe Young (1949).
