Biography
Ryūzaburō Mitsuoka, also credited as 光岡竜三郎, was a Japanese actor known for roles in period dramas. He was born Kiichi Nakazawa on 15 March 1901 in Ōno, Hokkaido, and died on 4 August 1961.
He began his career in theatre before entering film in 1924 at the Tōa Makino studio, where he became a leading actor in sword-fighting films during the silent era. His brother, actor Katsuragi Kōichi, was also in the profession.
Mitsuoka appeared as a soldier in Kenji Mizoguchi's Ugetsu (1953) and as Sadachika in Teinosuke Kinugasa's Gate of Hell (1953). He continued working in supporting roles in jidaigeki films into the early 1960s.
