Biography
Bill Hinzman (born Samuel William Hinzman) was an American actor and film director. He is best known for playing the cemetery zombie in George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead (1968), his first screen role. While working as an assistant cameraman on the production, he was cast in the part after being spotted by Romero.
Hinzman appeared in other Romero films including The Crazies (1973) and later directed and starred in the horror films The Majorettes (1986) and Flesheater (1988), in which he reprised a zombie role. He continued acting in independent horror productions into the 2010s. Hinzman died of cancer on 5 February 2012.
