Biography
Sacha Gordine was a French film producer. He was born on 27 February 1910 in Paris and died there on 8 June 1968.
Gordine produced around twenty feature films between the mid-1940s and early 1960s. His credits include La Ronde (1950), directed by Max Ophüls; La Marie du Port (1950); and Black Orpheus (1959), directed by Marcel Camus, which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
He also produced films directed by Yves Allégret, Marcel Carné and others, often starring actors such as Jean Gabin and Simone Signoret. In 1952 he founded the Société des Automobiles Gordine to compete in motor racing, though the venture was short-lived. His wife, Régine Storez, was a pioneering professional female racing driver.
