Biography
Sally-Jane Spencer is an English actress born on 10 July 1948 in Buckinghamshire. She trained at drama school and made her professional debut on the West End in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, later appearing in four seasons at Chichester Festival Theatre.
She is best known for playing Linda Patterson (later Linda Perrin) in the BBC sitcom The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin (1976–1979) across 16 episodes, reprising the role in the sequel series The Legacy of Reginald Perrin (1996). Other television credits include The New Avengers (1976) and The Newcomers (1967–1968); film roles include the florist in The Anniversary (1968). She is the daughter of film producer and screenwriter Norman Spencer. After her early career she left acting to raise a family.
