Biography
Sam Karmann is a French actor and director. Born in Port Said, Egypt, he trained in acting and began his career in theatre before moving into film in the early 1980s.
He is known for roles in Cuisine et Dépendances (1993), La Cité de la peur (1994), Le Goût des autres (2000) and Monsieur Batignole (2002). He provided the voice of Papa in the animated film Titeuf (2011) and has appeared in later features including Le Sens de la fête (2017) and Heureux gagnants (2024).
As a director, Karmann made the award-winning short Omnibus (1992), which received the Palme d'Or at Cannes and an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film. His feature films include Kennedy et moi (1999), À la petite semaine (2003) and La Vérité ou presque (2007).
