Biography
Sammy White, born Samuel Kwait, was an American actor and vaudeville performer. He began in vaudeville as part of the act Puck and White with his first wife, Eva Puck, and appeared on Broadway in shows including the Schubert Gaieties of 1919.
White originated the role of Frank Schultz in the 1927 Broadway production of Show Boat, reprising it in the 1932 revival and the 1936 film adaptation. He played the part again in a 1948 City Center revival. His film credits include The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) as Gus, Pat and Mike (1952) as Barney Grau, Somebody Up There Likes Me (1956) as Whitey Bimstein, and The Helen Morgan Story (1957), in which he appeared as himself. He later married actress Beatrice Curtis.
