Biography

Sandhya Suri is a British-Indian film director and screenwriter. Born and raised in Darlington, England, she studied mathematics before teaching in Japan and then training in documentary filmmaking at the National Film and Television School.

Her debut documentary I for India (2005) premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and received a Grand Jury Prize nomination. She later directed the archival documentary Around India with a Movie Camera (2018) and the short film The Field (2018). Her feature debut Santosh (2024), which she wrote and directed, premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes, was the United Kingdom's submission for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, and won the British Independent Film Award for Best Screenplay.
