Biography
Sandro Franchina (1939–1998) was an Italian actor, director and screenwriter. As a child he appeared as Michele Girard in Roberto Rossellini's Europa '51 (1952).
He later worked as an assistant director to Marco Bellocchio and Jean Rouch. Franchina directed the feature Morire gratis (1968) and numerous documentaries, including portraits of artists such as Gino Severini. He was the son of sculptor Nino Franchina and nephew of painter Gino Severini.
