Biography

Santiago Mitre is an Argentine film director and screenwriter. He studied at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires and began his career writing screenplays, including for three films directed by Pablo Trapero: Leonera (2008), Carancho (2010) and White Elephant (2012).

Mitre made his solo feature directorial debut with The Student (2011). Subsequent films include Paulina (2015), The Summit (2017), 15 Ways to Kill Your Neighbour (2022) and Argentina, 1985 (2022), on which he also served as writer and producer. The latter, about the 1985 trial of Argentina’s military junta, was nominated for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film and won the Golden Globe for Best Non-English Language Film.
