Biography
Saturnin Fabre (1884–1961) was a French actor. Born in Sens, Yonne, he died in Montgeron, Essonne. He trained at the Paris Conservatoire, where he won a first prize, and performed on stage in dramas, boulevard comedies and operettas.
Fabre appeared in silent films from 1911 and made the transition to sound cinema with La route est belle (1930). He is credited as The Great Father in Pépé le Moko (1937) and played Monsieur Sénéchal in Gates of the Night (1946). He appeared in nearly 80 talking films, mostly comedies, under many directors.
In 1948 he published an autobiography, Douche écossaise, under the anagram Ninrutas Erbaf. He was married to Suzanne Marie Benoist from 1925 until her death in 1957.
