Biography
Sergey Pavlovich Urusevsky was a Soviet cinematographer and film director. He trained in graphic design and photography, graduating from the Leningrad Art Industrial High School in 1929 and the Imperial Academy of Arts in 1937. During the Second World War he worked as a frontline cameraman.
Urusevsky is best known for his collaborations with director Mikhail Kalatozov on The Cranes Are Flying (1957), Letter Never Sent (1960) and I Am Cuba (1964). He also shot The Forty-First (1956) for Grigoriy Chukhray. Later he directed two features: Beg inokhodtsa (1969) and Sing Your Song, Poet (1973). He died in Moscow in 1974.
