Biography
Sergey Nikonenko is a Soviet and Russian actor, film director and screenwriter. Born in Moscow on 16 April 1941, he graduated from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) as an actor in 1964 and as a director in 1972.
He made his screen debut in 1961 and has appeared in more than eighty films and television productions. His early roles include Sergey Bystryakov in Wings (1966) and the Cossack Officer in The Red and the White (1967). He is also known for performances in War and Peace (1968), An Unfinished Piece for Player Piano (1977) and What Men Talk About (2010).
Nikonenko received the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR in 1991, along with earlier honours including the Order of the Badge of Honour (1971) and the Lenin Komsomol Prize (1976).
