Biography
Sergio Fantoni was an Italian actor. He was born in Rome on 7 August 1930 and died in Milan on 17 April 2020. The son of actor Cesare Fantoni, he began his career in the late 1940s with a film debut alongside his father in Anthony of Padua (1949).
Fantoni appeared in numerous Italian films and international productions. He is known for his role as Luca in Luchino Visconti's Senso (1954), as well as parts in The Prize (1963), Von Ryan's Express (1965), Sacco & Vanzetti (1971) and The Belly of an Architect (1987). His television credits include the role of Maestro Cataldo Barbera in Inspector Montalbano (1999). He also worked extensively as a voice actor.
Fantoni was married to actress Valentina Fortunato from 1961 until her death in 2019.
