Biography
Sérgio Fernando Moro is a Brazilian jurist, former federal judge and politician. Born on 1 August 1972 in Maringá, Paraná, he served as a federal judge from 1996 until 2018.
Moro gained national prominence as one of the lead judges in Operation Car Wash (Operação Lava Jato), a major investigation into corruption and bribery involving government officials and business executives. He later served as Minister of Justice and Public Security under President Jair Bolsonaro from 2018 to 2020.
He appears as himself in the documentaries The Edge of Democracy (2019) and Apocalypse in the Tropics (2025). In 2022 he was elected to the Federal Senate for Paraná.
