Biography

Shaun Davey is an Irish composer born in Belfast in 1948. He graduated in the History of Art from Trinity College, Dublin, in 1971 and later took a master's degree at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. He has worked full-time as a composer since 1977.

Davey composed the scores for the films Twelfth Night (1996), which received an Ivor Novello nomination, and Waking Ned Devine (1998), which won a Golden Reel Award. Other film scores include The Tailor of Panama (2001). His television work includes The Hanging Gale (Ivor Novello Award and BAFTA nomination) and the theme for Ballykissangel (BAFTA nomination and TRIC Award).

He has also written extensively for theatre, including productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and for concert works that combine traditional Irish music with orchestral forces.
