Biography

Shaun Duggan is an English television and stage writer. Born in 1970 in Liverpool, he began his career with the play William, produced at the Royal Court Theatre in 1986 as part of its Young Writers' Festival. He has written several stage plays for Liverpool theatres including the Everyman and Playhouse.

Duggan has worked extensively in British television, spending eight years on the script team for Brookside and four years on EastEnders. Other credits include episodes of Waterloo Road, Maisie Raine and Justice. He has collaborated repeatedly with Jimmy McGovern, writing the opening episode of the second series of Accused (2012), for which he received a BAFTA nomination, as well as episodes of Moving On, Banished and Broken.

He served as lead writer on multiple series of the CBBC drama Jamie Johnson (2016–2022) and its spin-off Jamie Johnson FC.
