Biography

Shim Hyun-jung is a South Korean film composer. She composed the majority of the score for Oldboy (2003), directed by Park Chan-wook, including the theme "The Last Waltz", working under music supervisor Jo Yeong-wook.

She studied composition at university in South Korea before pursuing further studies in the United States, including time in New York where she discovered an aptitude for film music. Early in her career she worked on short films and documentaries before contributing to feature films such as Ardor (2002) and H (2002).

Her subsequent credits include The Man from Nowhere (2010), for which she received Best Music awards, A Werewolf Boy (2012), Hot Young Bloods (2014), The 8th Night (2021) and Project Silence (2023). She has also composed for television series including Connect (2022).
