Biography
Simon Donald is a Scottish writer and playwright. He began his career in theatre, writing the play The Life of Stuff (1997), for which he received the London Evening Standard Theatre Award and the London Critics' Circle Theatre Award for Most Promising Playwright in 1993. The work was later adapted into a film.
His television and film credits include writing episodes of Murphy's Law (2005) and the television film Low Winter Sun (2006). He created and wrote the series The Deep (2010) and Fortitude (2015–2018). Other screenwriting work includes the films My Life So Far (1999) and Beautiful Creatures (2000). Low Winter Sun earned him a BAFTA Television Award nomination for Best Drama Serial.
