Biography

Simon Prast is a New Zealand actor and theatre director. Born on 6 March 1962 in Ōtāhuhu, Auckland, he studied law at the University of Auckland before graduating from the Theatre Corporate drama school in 1984.

Prast founded the Auckland Theatre Company in 1992 and served as its first artistic director until 2003, directing and producing over sixty productions. His screen career began in the 1980s with roles in New Zealand series such as Gloss and Shortland Street, followed by appearances in Xena: Warrior Princess (1995) and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (1995).

He is known for recurring television work including Go Girls (2010–2012) and The Brokenwood Mysteries (2022), and for playing the Televangelist in the film X (2022) and reprising the role as Ernest Miller in its sequel MaXXXine (2024).
