Biography
Snitz Edwards, born Edward Neumann, was a Hungarian-born stage and character actor who worked in American silent films and into the early sound era. He was born on 1 January 1868 in Budapest, then part of Austria-Hungary, and died on 1 May 1937 in Los Angeles, California.
Edwards began as a successful Broadway performer before transitioning to film around 1915. He appeared in numerous productions with major stars of the period and is noted for roles such as His Evil Associate in The Thief of Bagdad (1924), His Lawyer in Seven Chances (1925), Florine Papillon in The Phantom of the Opera (1925), and supporting parts in three Buster Keaton films including Battling Butler (1926) and College (1927). His final screen appearance was an uncredited role in The Public Enemy (1931).
He was married to actress Eleanor Taylor from 1906 until his death.
