Biography
Song Xiaoying (Chinese: 宋晓英) is a Chinese film and television actress. Born on 27 December 1954 in Baicheng, Jilin, she began her career in 1973 after joining the Jilin opera troupe and made her screen debut in the remake of Guerrillas on the Plain. She joined the Changchun Film Studio in 1974 and later studied at the Beijing Film Academy.
She is known for her role as Sis in The Blue Kite (1993), directed by Tian Zhuangzhuang. Song has appeared in numerous films and television series, including Ward 16 (1983), Her Smile Through Candlelight (1991), A Time to Love (2005) and recent productions such as Once Upon a Time in China (2019) and The Epoch of Miyu (2026).
Song has received two Golden Rooster Awards: Best Supporting Actress in 1984 for Ward 16 and Best Actress in 1992 for Her Smile Through Candlelight. She has also been nominated for further Golden Rooster Awards and won other honours including a Changchun Film Festival award.
