Biography
Sonia Bergamasco is an Italian actress. Born in Milan on 16 January 1966, she graduated in piano from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory and trained at the drama school of the Piccolo Teatro, graduating in 1990. She made her stage debut that year in Giorgio Strehler’s Arlecchino dei giovani and her film debut in 1994.
Her breakout film role was as Sofia in Giuseppe Bertolucci’s Probably Love (2001). She is known for playing Giulia Monfalco in The Best of Youth (2003), for which she shared a Nastro d’Argento for Best Actress with the female cast. Other notable screen work includes Where Am I Going? (2016), Like a Cat on a Highway (2017) and its sequel, My Brilliant Friend (2018) as Mariarosa Airota, and The Negotiator (2025).
Bergamasco is married to actor Fabrizio Gifuni.
