Biography
Sonja Richter is a Danish actress. She was born on 4 January 1974 in Esbjerg and trained at Odense Theatre's Acting School, graduating in 1999. She has performed at the Royal Danish Theatre and other Danish stages, including roles in productions of works by Strindberg, Shakespeare and Schiller.
Richter's film roles include Cecilie in Open Hearts (2002), for which she received Bodil and Robert Award nominations, Merete Lynggaard in The Keeper of Lost Causes (2013) and Gro Svendsen in The Homesman (2014). She has also appeared in television series including The Bridge (as Lise Friis Andersen) and The Killing (as Marie Borch). In 2004 she received the Shooting Stars Award at the Berlin International Film Festival, and in 2007 the Crown Prince Couple's Culture Prize.
