Biography
Sophy Romvari is a Canadian film director, writer and actress. She was born on 20 October 1990 in Victoria, British Columbia, and studied film at Capilano University before completing an MFA at York University.
Romvari first gained attention for her short films, including the thesis film Still Processing (2020), which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was later released by Mubi and the Criterion Channel. Her feature debut Blue Heron (2025), which she wrote and directed, premiered at the Locarno Film Festival, where it won the Swatch First Feature Award, and received its Canadian theatrical release in 2026.
