Biography
Stanisław Igar, whose real name was Czesław Kubiak, was a Polish actor. He was born on 14 July 1918 in Płock and died on 29 December 1987 in Kraków. He trained at the State Institute of Theatrical Art in Warsaw and made his stage debut in 1945.
Igar worked extensively in Polish theatre, appearing in companies in Warsaw, Olsztyn, Wrocław (1952–67), Gdańsk (1967–78) and Kraków (from 1978), where he also taught at the State Higher School of Theatre. He directed a number of productions and took on a range of dramatic and character roles.
In film he is known for supporting parts including Don Gaspar Soarez in The Saragossa Manuscript (1965), Grünspan in The Promised Land (1975), a minister in The Scar (1976) and a craftsman in O-Bi, O-Ba: The End of Civilization (1985).
