Biography
Stefan Schubert is a German film producer. Born in 1955 in Mannheim, he studied psychology in Hamburg before entering the film industry in 1984. Two years later he took his first production management role.
In 1989 Schubert co-founded Wüste Filmproduktion in Hamburg with Ralph Schwingel and Lars Becker; he and Schwingel have been sole owners since 1996. He has produced or co-produced numerous features, notably several by Fatih Akin including In July (2000), Solino (2002), Head-On (2004) and Kebab Connection (2004), as well as Short Sharp Shock (1998), Emma's Bliss (2006) and Flame & Citron (2008).
Schubert received the Produzentenpreis at the Cologne Conference in 2004. He has also been involved in distribution through timebandits films and documentary work via filmtank hamburg.
