Biography
Stepan Ivanovich Krylov (also credited as S. Krylov and S. Krylkov) was a Soviet and Russian actor. Born on 14 February 1910 in the village of Gorodok, Vyazemsky uyezd, Smolensk Governorate, Russian Empire, he graduated in 1935 from the Leningrad Technicum of Stage Arts, where he studied in the workshop of Sergei Gerasimov.
Krylov appeared in numerous films from the 1930s onwards, often in supporting roles. He is known for his performances in Andrei Tarkovsky’s Ivan's Childhood (1962), as Katasonov, and Andrei Rublev (1966), as the Senior Foundry Worker. He also appeared in The Red Tent (1969). In 1969 he was named Merited Artist of the RSFSR. Krylov died on 28 February 1998 in St Petersburg.
