Biography
Stephen Evans is a film and television editor with over thirty years' experience. After graduating with first-class honours in London, he worked as an assistant editor on British and American features including Mike Leigh's Life Is Sweet (1990) and High Hopes (1988). He returned to Australia in the 1990s and began editing feature films and series.
His credits include Chopper (2000), Suburban Mayhem (2006), Miss Fisher & the Crypt of Tears (2020) and Babyteeth (2019). He has edited episodes of Underbelly, Wolf Creek, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries and Killing Eve. Evans has collaborated repeatedly with directors such as Shannon Murphy and Andrew Dominik.
He received AFI/AACTA awards for editing Suburban Mayhem, Underbelly and Grace, and nominations for Chopper and Australian Rules (2002). Babyteeth premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival.
