Biography

Stuart Walker (1932–2023) was a British production designer and art director. He began his career at the BBC in 1959 in Schools Television and became a senior designer in the design department by 1968, remaining there for 30 years before working freelance. His credits include the BBC television film An Englishman Abroad (1983), the feature film A Private Function (1984), the miniseries The Camomile Lawn (1992) and Portrait of a Marriage (1990), and the film Captives (1994).

Walker won two BAFTA Awards for production design, for An Englishman Abroad and Portrait of a Marriage, and received a further nomination for Scarlet and Black. He also received a Royal Television Society award for his work on the 1988 ScreenPlay film Road. Later in his career he taught at the National Film and Television School.
