Biography
Sylvia Ashton was an American actress of the silent film era. Born in Denver, Colorado, she began her screen career in 1912 as a member of D.W. Griffith's stock company and subsequently worked for Famous Players–Lasky. She appeared regularly in Cecil B. DeMille productions and was often cast in mother and grandmother roles.
Ashton appeared in more than 130 films between 1912 and 1929. She is credited as Mommer Sieppe in Greed (1924) and as Kelly's Aunt (uncredited) in Queen Kelly (1929). Other notable appearances include an uncredited role in Intolerance: Love's Struggle Throughout the Ages (1916). She retired from films shortly after the transition to sound.
