Biography
T. Roy Barnes (also credited as Thomas Roy Barnes) was a British-American actor. Born on 11 August 1880 in Lincolnshire, England, he moved to the United States as a child. He began his career in vaudeville, appearing with his wife, actress Bessie Crawford, in an act billed as 'Package of Smiles'. He later performed on the stage from 1914 before entering films.
Barnes appeared in over 50 films between 1920 and 1935, primarily comedies. In the 1920s he often played brash young go-getters in supporting and leading roles. He is known for his performance as Billy Meekin, His Partner, in Seven Chances (1925) and as the Insurance Salesman in It's a Gift (1934). He retired from films in 1935 and died on 30 March 1937 in Hollywood, California.
