Biography
Takeshi Kimura, also credited as Kaoru Mabuchi, was a Japanese screenwriter who worked extensively for Toho studios on tokusatsu films. Born Kaoru Mabuchi on 4 February 1911 in Osaka Prefecture, he wrote under the pen name Takeshi Kimura from the 1950s before adopting Kaoru Mabuchi for later projects. He died on 3 May 1987.
Kimura scripted or co-scripted numerous films directed by Ishirō Honda, including Rodan (1956), Matango (1963), Frankenstein Conquers the World (1965), The War of the Gargantuas (1966), King Kong Escapes (1967), Destroy All Monsters (1968) and Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971). His screenplays often featured more serious or political themes than those of his contemporary Shinichi Sekizawa. He regarded Matango as his finest work.
