Biography
Tang Ru-Yun was a Taiwanese actress. She began her career in military theatre troupes and appeared in stage productions, television dramas and films from the 1960s onwards.
She is known for supporting roles in several Taiwanese New Wave films, including Ming's mother in Hou Hsiao-hsien's The Time to Live and the Time to Die (1985), for which she received the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actress, Mrs Xia in Edward Yang's A Brighter Summer Day (1991), and the grandmother in Yang's Yi Yi (2000). She also appeared in Together (2002).
Tang died in Taipei in 2011.
