Biography
Terence Hill, born Mario Girotti on 29 March 1939 in Venice, Italy, is an Italian actor, film director, screenwriter and producer. He began his career as a child actor after being discovered by director Dino Risi at a swimming meet. He made his screen debut in Vacanze col gangster (1951) and appeared as Count Cavriaghi in Luchino Visconti's The Leopard (1963), credited under his birth name.
Hill gained international recognition for his roles in spaghetti Westerns and action comedies, particularly in a long series of films alongside Bud Spencer. He adopted the stage name Terence Hill in 1967. His best-known films include They Call Me Trinity (1970), Trinity Is Still My Name (1971) and My Name Is Nobody (1973). From 2000 to 2022 he starred as the title character in the Italian television series Don Matteo.
