Biography
Thierry Flamand is a French production designer born on 13 July 1953. He trained as an architect at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, graduating with the DPLG diploma in 1979. He began his career in illustration before moving into set design for theatre and film.
His brother, the actor and director Didier Flamand, introduced him to the industry. Flamand’s first major film credit was as production designer on Luc Besson’s The Last Battle (1983). He has since worked on numerous features, including Until the End of the World (1991), The Crimson Rivers (2000), The Adversary (2002), Iznogoud (2005), Beauty and the Beast (2014), Kursk (2018) and Submergence (2018).
Flamand won the César Award for Best Production Design for Beauty and the Beast (2014) and received nominations for Place Vendôme (1998) and The Second Wind (2007). He has also designed for theatre, opera and video games.
