Biography
Thomas Weinhappel is an Austrian baritone opera singer and actor. Born on 30 August 1980 in Stockerau, he sang as an alto soloist with the Vienna Boys' Choir and toured internationally. He performed songs from Schubert's Winterreise as the Baritone in Michael Haneke's film The Piano Teacher (2001).
Weinhappel studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and the Private University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, graduating with a Master of Arts in 2007. His opera roles have included Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Hamlet, Don Giovanni and Posa. He appeared as Hans in the television series A Suitable Boy (2020). In 2017 he received the Thalia Award for best opera singer.
