Biography
Tom Kingdon is a British television director and former cinematographer. He began his career in 1979 as a member of the production team on BBC Two Play of the Week and later completed the BBC Director’s Course while working at the corporation for ten years.
Kingdon directed 24 episodes of the BBC soap EastEnders across two periods in the late 1980s and mid-1990s. His other directing credits include episodes of Theatre Night, Take the High Road, Emmerdale and Jupiter Moon. He has also worked as a production manager and first assistant on feature films and television productions.
After a period as a freelance director of around two hundred productions, Kingdon joined Emerson College in Boston in 1994, where he taught for 26 years and is now Professor Emeritus. He holds an MA from the University of Birmingham and published the book Total Directing in 2005.
