Biography
Tom Lau Moon-Tong, also credited as Lau Moon-Tong, Lau Mun-Tong and Tom M. T. Lau, is a Hong Kong cinematographer. He began working as a camera assistant in the mid-1970s at Salon Films under Australian cinematographer Ross Bluck and advanced to director of photography in 1978 with The Contract.
His credits include A Chinese Ghost Story (1987), for which he shared a Hong Kong Film Award nomination for Best Cinematography, Dragon Inn (1992), also nominated, Tai-Chi Master (1993), The Heroic Trio (1993), Last Hero in China (1993) and The Bodyguard from Beijing (1994). He has worked frequently with directors such as Ching Siu-tung and Tsui Hark. In 1984 he directed and wrote the horror film The Rape After (also known as Devil Fetus 2).
Lau was active through the 1990s and has since stepped back from feature films.
